Monthly Gem | The Bryant

Bryant Park … it’s one of the go-to destinations in NYC, and it’s no wonder.  Its European-style seating, its fountains, its programming and nibbles, they create a year-round draw to the area.  Its location only elevates this destination status, with the diverse shops, public spaces and transportation options that abound in its neighborhood.  It is why we were moved to name as our monthly gem the last available development space on the park and the first in NYC to be designed by the award-winning British architect, David Chipperfield.

Located at 16 West 40th, Street, The Bryant sits high above a new boutique hotel, with nearly every residence enjoying a panoramic city skyline or park views. This is true NY living at the literal center of it all: Grand Central and Times Square are steps away yet un-intrusive. Deceptive simplicity, representative of Chipperfield’s brand, abounds in this impressive new development marked by crisp frames, concealed storage and appliances, herringbone floors and full floor-to-ceiling windows.  The Bryant offers 57 units over 34 full-height stories soaring above the park, itself.  At an average of under $3,000/sq. ft., it’s no wonder that so many of the units are already in contract.  All in, this is one of the more spectacular monthly gems we’ve shared in some time!

Monthly Gem | The Chatsworth

Give me an E! Give me an X! Give me a C! Ok, it’s going to take too long to spell out “exclusive”, but we wanted to celebrate our team’s exclusive sales representation of The Chatsworth, our new development project!

Open for immediate occupancy, the Chatsworth was designed by Pembroke & Ives as a modern classic, at the intersection of old and new, with impeccable functionality and style. Nestled near Riverside Park, the building is located at 344 W. 72nd Street, in the prime of the Upper West Side. This majestic development boasts a landmark building status, brimming with historical elegance in a timeless way, on the inside and out.   State-of-the-art kitchens and Italian marble bathrooms meet stunning crown moldings and herringbone floors, across small and large apartment foot-prints, alike. Better yet, buyers get the stability of a co-op with the freedom that comes with condo rules. What can get better than that!

Give us a call to give you a personal tour of the Chatsworth, and everything that this unique property has to offer!

Monthly Gem | 135 W. 52nd Street

This month’s Monthly Gem is in a very unique, mostly office-building dominated midtown location on 52nd Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. You shouldn’t scrunch your nose at that, however, as it’s one of the few “reasonable” price-points we’ve seen in some time, with plentiful amenities to enjoy. We’re talking a 12,000 square foot Residents’ Club, private dining area, a 75-ft. pool with integrated seating, natural-light filled kids’ playroom, golf-simulator, yoga studio, and a gym with private locker rooms and outdoor oasis. Not too shabby, eh?

In terms of the residences at 135 W. 52nd Street, there’s a significant design focus to their lay-out, from sliding glass doors that transform living spaces on demand to radiant heat flooring in the bathrooms. The building offers a contemporary but warm aesthetic, with all of the top-name appliances you might find at higher price-points, including Miele and WaterWorks.

The building is centrally located to actually take advantage of the quintessential NYC experience, with Central Park, Bergdorf Goodman, Carnegie Hall, MOMA and Rockefeller Center all a hop, skip, and a jump away. Or, you can dance-step your way to Broadway shows after your Michelin-rated meal. It’s truly one of the best of all worlds: location, luxury and price.

Monthly Gem | The Inkwell

If you’re loyal readers of The Apple, Peeled, you are experts in the market. You know that, over the last few years, a vast majority of new developments have come in above $2,000/sq.ft., with price-tags well above the $5 million mark to start. It’s our pleasure, therefore, to offer up an outlier to this trend via our Monthly Gem: the Inkwell, in Hells Kitchen. At approximately $1,400/sq. ft., the building represents an amazing deal for a new development in a rapidly transforming section of Hell’s Kitchen. Formerly a schoolhouse, the building boasts 13-foot ceilings and offers up a modern-industrial aesthetic, with refined mixed materials like American Black Walnut floors, bronze door hardware, Calacatta marble vanities and steel-framed cabinetry. A part-time doorman and paired with fantastic amenities make this building an intimate, off-the-beaten-path offering for those who value high-end living without paying for the extras they would never use. With the pipeline of developments in this pricing tier so narrow, if you’re in the market, Inkwell is a must see!

Monthly Gem | 196 Orchard

This month’s gem finds itself in one of the most dynamic and diverse neighborhoods of NYC: the Lower East Side. It is against this bustling backdrop that 196 Orchard sits.  Our monthly gem is everything you’d expect a building in the neighborhood to be:  sophisticated but in a textured, industrial way, overflowing with grounded luxury.

Designed by Incorporated Architecture and Design, the building is crowned by rooftop gardens and features oversized, dramatic metallic bronze industrial-styled casement windows, surrounded by imported gilded bronze glazed Spanish bricks. The aesthetic pays homage to the neighborhood’s past and its vibrant present, punctuated by an equally lively Equinox gym on the ground floor.

Why did we choose 196 Orchard?   First, we believe that the Lower East Side will be the next Chelsea.  The neighborhood has the unique mixture of grit and glamour, home to a diverse population of young and old, along with city newbies and veterans.  Further, it is well served by public transportation, while also sitting at the intersections of some of the most vibrant communities in the city: the East Village, Nolita, and Chinatown, and a stone’s throw away from Soho and the West Village.  Until now, very few new developments have broken ground here, so we believe this to be a great opportunity to gain a foothold in this up and coming hood.  Further, the varied mix of price points and sizes among its 93 residences make it very appealing for residents and investors, alike.

Monthly Gem | 212 Fifth Avenue

This month we are featuring 212 Fifth Avenue as the monthly gem, and for good reason. Our team toured the beautiful Penthouse property that was as exquisite as its Madison Square Park location.  Fun fact:  representing NYC’s 212 area code, the developer was attracted to the building’s matching address as one of its many virtues.

As a neo-Gothic sky-scraper, this iconic tower has been recently converted to 48 residences boasting open floor plans, tall ceilings and oversized windows (most of which showcase mention stellar park and city views). Previously built as a manufacturing building, the 2-3 units per floor all get outstanding light that bounces off its solid oak and marble floors from the two to three exposures that every unit gets.

The amenities are exceptional for a boutique building, featuring a 24-hour doorman, concierge, cold storage, fitness center (with yoga studio and treatment room, playroom, game room, residents’ lounge, catering kitchen, screening room and valet parking. Although the building’s location provides it easy access to many subways, residents may just want to walk out into the park without leaving home turf.

This Month’s Gem | 175 W. 10th Street

After much back and forth with the Landmarks Commission over its design, this West Village boutique condo is finally on its way to launching sales.  Situated between Charles and West 10th Street on Seventh Avenue, the exterior will be defined by a red-brick façade peppered with irregularly spaced windows.  The property will be home to five floor-through units of 2,500 sq.ft., and a duplex penthouse on floors six and seven.   For more details on the beautiful development, please click here.
